Pieces start at $75 per resin cast. Will it look exactly like my pet?
It's a likeness, not a replica. Some are more complicated than others. Tortoiseshell for example can't be matched exactly, but I do my best to match real life markings. I'll tell you upfront what's achievable with your pet's coat. Tell me which patches/areas are most important to you. My cat had an orange spot on his back that was him, and I take your wants into account.What does it cost?
Pieces start at $75 while I build my portfolio, and unless it's super complicated it'll probably be just $75. This is introductory pricing and it will go up. Matters how much you want in there. Several cuttings of each color you want in there. For fur, I think it looks better with more rather than less, but I'll do what you want. For ashes, usually about a tablespoon. For the love of God, don't send me everything you have.I can do it with fur sheddings, but it won't look quite as good. But if it's all you have, I can work with it.Which fur should I collect?
Cuttings from each distinctly colored area, kept in separate bags and labeled. A white blaze and a black saddle are two samples, not one.Can you work from photos?

About me
Hi, I'm Jon. I make resin casts that hold a pet's fur or ashes.I started doing this for myself. When I lost my cat Batson in 2024, I went looking for something to keep and couldn't find it. Most of what's on Etsy wasn't what I had in mind. I found one studio doing close to what I wanted, but they weren't taking orders. So I made it myself. I got that from my mom, also an artist. When I see something I think to myself "well I can do that". When I lost Nika, my German Shepherd, in 2025, I made one for her too.The fur isn't scattered through the piece or mixed into the pour. It's placed, arranged inside the mold so the markings land roughly where they did on the animal. A white chest stays a white chest. A split face stays split. I do my best to match real life markings, and that placement is most of the work.I'm just a guy who loves his pets like family. Friends and family started asking for their own, and eventually it made sense to open it up to anyone who wants one.Some people think this is weird. To each their own. If you're the kind of person who wants a piece of them close, you already understand it.I went to Pharmacy School and have a PharmD. You can see my professional background here. I've spent most of my career in clinical and managed care work, which is fifteen years in a field where attention to detail is crucial, and where you're regularly working with people who are going through something. None of that qualifies me to make art. But it's why the part of this that involves handling your pet's remains is the part I'm most careful about.I'm not a production shop. Every cast is made individually, by me, at home in the Bay Area. Your pet's material is the only material on my bench while I'm working on your piece. I don't batch commissions and nothing gets combined. I photograph what arrives, keep it labeled and sealed, and return anything I don't use in the same container you sent it in.Resin casts are what I specialize in, but they're not the only thing I can do. What You're Ordering
A resin cast made with your pet's fur, ashes, or both. Pieces can also be made without any material if you'd prefer a keepsake on its own.Fur and ashes are placed inside the piece during casting. They cannot be added afterward, by me or by you.You must be 18 or older to commission a piece.Handling With Dignity and Care
I do this because I love animals. I made the first piece for my own cat, and the second for my own dog, and I know exactly what it feels like to hold what's left of them.Whatever you send me is treated the way I'd want mine treated. I photograph it when it arrives. I keep it labeled and sealed until the moment it goes into the mold. Nothing is thrown away, nothing is treated casually, and whatever I don't use comes back to you in the container you sent it in.If anything goes wrong at any point, you'll hear it from me first.Sizes
Small, medium, and large. See the gallery for comparison. I usually recommend small or medium, but I'll make whatever you want.Larger pieces need more fur to carry the markings across the increased surface. If you have a limited amount, a smaller size will give a better result.Markings
I'll do my best to match your pet's real markings. I can't guarantee an exact match. This is a likeness built from fur, not a replica.I have a system that holds placement well when I pour, but resin doesn't always cooperate. Material can shift during the pour or the cure, and there's no undoing it once it sets. Most of the time it comes out the way I intended. Occasionally it doesn't.If a Pour Fails
Sometimes a cast doesn't work. Bubbles, an incomplete cure, material that shifts badly, or a piece that simply comes out wrong. It's uncommon, but it happens, and it's part of working in this medium.If it happens to your piece, I'll tell you right away and show you. If there's enough material left, if you prefer, I'll recast it at no additional cost. If there isn't, we'll talk through the options: a smaller piece, a different format, or a refund of your deposit if there's no good way forward.This is why I ask for a small portion rather than everything you have. Please don't send me your only material.How Much Fur to Send
It depends on length. Longer hair goes further, and more generally looks better. See the reference photo for a minimum. If your pet's hair is short, send more.I can work with almost any amount, so if only a little is available, that's fine. Send only what you're comfortable including.I can work with shedded hair, but it doesn't look as brilliant as normal fur.I'll use what the piece needs and return the rest with your finished cast. I won't use everything by default. Packing a piece full of fur adds bubbles and takes away from how it looks. If you've sent a small amount, I may need all of it, so I can't always promise there will be something to send back.On color: hair tends to look slightly "wet" in resin and may darken a little. White hair sometimes goes translucent. In rare cases hair can shift color. I can't predict how any particular fur will behave once it's in resin.How Much Ash to Send
About a tablespoon. I'll return what I don't use.Ashes can be set a few different ways: as a heart near the top, worked into the base, or as a layer above the base. We'll decide together.Base
The base is the bottom 1/8 to 1/4 inch of the piece. It can be left clear or colored to your preference. I can also make a separate base holding ashes, gold foil, or color.Name and Photo
Your pet's name, a photo, or both can be added to the underside. Email the photo after you order and I'll crop, size, and edit it to fit.Other Items
Tags, kibble, toy fur, catnip, flowers, collars, and similar mementos can often be included. Some items require a larger mold or carry an additional charge. Ask and I'll tell you what's possible.Cross-Contamination
I work on one commission at a time. Your pet's material is the only material I'm casting with while your piece is being made. Nothing is batched and nothing is combined. I take real precautions to keep my own animals' fur out of the work.I want to be straightforward about this: I'm not running a sterile lab. I work out of my home, and I have cats and dogs of my own.I live with animals, and animals shed. Despite my best efforts, a stray strand could end up in a piece. I can't promise it won't happen.If you have a black cat and you spot a golden retriever hair in there, tell me. there's enough of your material left, I'll recast it at no cost. If there isn't, I'll refund what you paid. Send me a photo of what you're seeing and we'll figure it out.The Process
1. Send the commission form. Tell me what you're looking for.2. We talk it through. Email, text, or phone, whatever you prefer. We'll agree on size, materials, and price.3. Deposit. Half to start, half on completion. Full agreed upon amount must be received before shipping the final product.4. You send your materials. I'll confirm when they arrive.5. I make it. Usually under two weeks, measured from the day your materials arrive, not from the day you order. I'll give you a specific estimate once I have them. No firm promises on timing, but I'm not looking to start a collection of other people’s fur and ashes. My wife would not be thrilled.Approval Before Shipping
When your piece is finished, I'll send you photos before anything is mailed. The balance is due at that point, and I ship once it's received.Approval means you're happy with the piece. Because resin can't be altered once it's cured, there's no revision process. What you see in the photos is what exists.If I'm not happy with how it turned out and there's material left, I'll make another at no cost to you.If I'm happy with it but you're not, and there's material left, I'll make one additional piece at half the price of the original. This is a one-time offer per commission.Shipping Your Materials to Me
Getting your materials to me is your responsibility, including the cost. Check pricing before you send.I don't provide a shipping container. Seal the fur or ashes in a ziplock bag and send it in a bubble mailer or a small box.Send it tracked. I don’t require it but strongly recommend it.Shipping to You
Standard shipping with tracking and insurance is included. Expedited shipping is available at your cost.Photos of Your Piece
I photograph every piece before it ships. With your permission, I may use those photos, along with photos of your pet if you've shared them, on my website and social media.This is entirely optional and has no effect on your commission. Check the box on the commission form if you'd like to allow it.If you agree and later change your mind, just tell me and I'll take them down.Payment
Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal preferred, since they keep fees down. Stripe works, cash is fine, and I'm open to other arrangements. Checks are accepted for the full amount up front only.Cancellation and Refunds
Within 7 days of ordering, before I've started work: full refund.Work begins when I start mixing the resin. It hardens quickly though, so it’s not like I can premix it even an hour in advance. Once that's happened, the deposit is forfeit. If you change your mind at that point, I'll return your fur, ashes, and any other inclusions, but I won't send the finished piece.If your materials never reach me: I'll refund your deposit. I can't make something I never received, and I'm not going to keep money for work I didn't do. I’m not trying to screw anybody over here. That said, I'm not responsible for the loss itself. Send it tracked.If you change your mind about including fur or ashes but still want a piece, I can make one without them. They're lovely keepsakes on their own.Unclaimed Pieces
If I can't reach you after your piece is finished, I'll hold it for 90 days. After that the piece is discarded and any unused fur, ashes, or other inclusions are mailed to your last known address.Please keep me updated if your contact information changes. Again, not trying to start a collection here.Returns
No returns. If something is wrong with your order, reach out and we'll sort it out.Limit of Liability
My total liability for any commission is limited to the amount you paid for it.Caring for Your Piece
The resin is heat resistant and I finish each piece with a UV protectant to slow yellowing. Even so, keep it out of direct sunlight.

The winner is responsible for any taxes that may apply.8. What the Winner Needs to Provide
- A small amount of fur clipped with scissors (not brushed), separated by color into labeled bags, delivered to the Sponsor within 30 days of accepting the prize. The winner is responsible for the cost of sending the fur; a standard envelope is usually enough. The Sponsor will never charge the winner any fee.- A few clear photos of the pet showing their markings- The Sponsor is not responsible for fur that is lost or damaged before it arrives; using a trackable shipping method is recommended. The estimated completion time is approximately 3 weeks after the fur arrives. If a casting fails, the Sponsor will re-cast it if enough fur remains.
